Rayuvtsi Village, Elena Balkan, Bulgaria (near Yovkovtsi Dam).

Valchan Voivoda (1775–1863) is often referred to as a "Bulgarian Robin Hood," known not only for his audacious raids against Ottoman authorities but also for his efforts to use his accumulated wealth to support the Bulgarian people and fund educational endeavors. The 2017 events reinforced the legacy of this figure, highlighting his role as a protector of the marginalized. The monument in Rayuvtsi, erected in the area known as Valcha Polyana (Voivoda’s Field), depicts the leader in full traditional attire, standing confidently over chests of gold, symbolizing both his wealth and his dedication to the liberation cause.
